Scare the Stuffing Out of Us!
Well, the good news is Christmas is definitely happening it says so on my Calendar, Church Noticeboard, in My Weekly and when I popped into ‘Pets At Home’ they had a mountain of squeaky plastic brussel sprouts, Christmas puddings, turkeys and pigs in scarves, all waiting to be destroyed by eager pooches on the big day.
Autumn Days
Well haven’t we been lucky with some crisp Autumn days I’m loving them and today after last week’s letter to you I’m going out to buy Gourds and play around arranging them.
Transition Season
How’s your seasonal transition going? I’m just about dealing with those beautiful leaves that gave us such a glorious display of colour now everyday falling to the ground and with Halloween just around the corner Winter is well and truly on its way.
Little Home Improvements
Last week we were talking Hygge the Danish movement for wellbeing which amongst other things has a large amount to do with the way we arrange our nest. I consider myself a lifetime member of Hygge and proclaim its virtues constantly but even I became reinvigorated by My Weekly’s inspiration and started poking around to see where I could improve.
I Have Often Said, That The Elixir of Youth Isn’t in a Pot of Cream it’s in the Way You Live Your Life
Chelsea Flower Show
All excited sitting down to write because I’ve just returned from the intoxicating atmosphere of Chelsea Flower Show. Over the last few weeks, I’ve watched The Royal Hospital Garden transformed from a park garden to an uplifting stunning Autumnal Showground. Covid has tested our British spirit to the core but handed some opportunities to test out new ideas.
NEW BOOK – How to Age Well: The Secrets
Who woke up and said, “I want to age?” No one.
‘How To Age Well: The Secrets’ is packed with my thoughts, experts I’ve spoken to who inspire me and recommended reading for your own research.
Autumn is On The Way In!
Well, I’ve spent this week finishing off my book titled ‘How To Age Well’ which will be out at next month and already fretting over things I just didn’t have room, I knew this would happen so scribbling them down to drip feed to you over the weeks
The De-pack from Holiday!
So I’m finally back from the land of, ruins, churches, feta cheese, the colour colbert blue and now performing all those ‘coming home’ rituals, beginning with a proper cup of tea, plant check, and a whitewash.
Off to the Aegean Sea!
Well, I’m packing and jumping into the Aegean Sea headfirst with as much luggage as I can cram into my weightless case because traveling light is not my thing, cases have wheels so let them do their job and take the strain.
Happy Bank Holiday
I’ve Got A Must Read For You
A few thoughts going around in my head I want to chat about and one which I’m bursting to share with you is about a book that everyone over 50 should own, read, re-read, digest, act on and know it’s going to either change your life for the better because it was the kick up the proverbial you needed or confirm and double down on what you’ve always thought and dipping in from time to time will keep you on the right track.
Meet Chrysanthea
I am delighted to be finally be sharing with you the gorgeous new Chrysanthea Shoulder Bag, something I have been working on with Sarah Haran for a while now!
The Art of Packing
So, this week one of the subjects upper most in my mind (because I’m a born optimist) is packing, or should I say the ‘art’ of packing because it’s a subject I take very seriously, in fact I will go as far as to say I’m a professional packer because for many years it’s been part of my job to arrive on location with the right clothes, toiletries and activity accessories.
Theatre Visits & Fun
Well, this week I need to share something with you, but you need to be quick on this one because when social distancing ends it’s not going to be as good. Last November I bought, as a Christmas treat, tickets to Hairspray for April 21 starring Michael Ball at my favorite theatre, London’s Coliseum, we were literally counting the days.
Healthy Snacking & What I Eat
I don’t know about you, but I seem to have spent an unhealthy amount of time this last week looking at my BBC Weather app, it never lets me down but sadly there seems to be a distinct lack of Suns.
My Weekly & Life Updates!
Hope you’re enjoying the weather now it’s finally arrived, I certainly am. Question, what’s the first page you go to when picking up your copy of My Weekly? Some people make a cup of tea, maybe slip in a few biscuits, start on page one and methodically make their way through the magazine, savoring the experience all in one go.
Summer Is Finally Here!
Well Summer is finally here; I say this with conviction only because that beautiful ball of heat that hangs in the sky managed to sustain its warm rays over our land for more than four days on the trot!
A Good Old-Fashion Picnic
You probably read the lovely story we had by Sheila Blackburn called The Picnic with the conclusion that whoever you are, wherever you’ve traveled, there is nothing more comforting on a sunny day than tucking into a good old-fashioned picnic.
A Few Skincare Tips!
Have you been feeling a little more optimistic? Have you looked at spring flowers and more than ever before felt warm inside at the sight? Well, my inner Mama Moomin has definitely risen from her winter hibernation and is preparing for summer full of optimism
