A Sloe Search
Surfing around to find Sloe Berries to make Sloe Gin for Christmas. Will let you know when I’ve found berries and settled on best proportions of Gin to Berries to Sugar.
A Sparkling Night
This year November 5th was all a bit of a scramble but we celebrated by popping over to an organised display close to our house and the mulled wine (which was Sainsbury’s own) was delicious.
You Can’t Beat Betty!
Mum’s Birthday involved a lot of table decorating and cake making masterminded by my Nephews Jack and Freddy who were given a free range. If you are in a rush Betty Crocker gave to the world a box entitled ‘Devils Food Cake Mix’. Don’t feel bad about using it – the result is delicious and margin for error is vastly reduced.
A Fantastic Film
The Help is an amazing film – you have to see it. Beautifully shot, brilliantly acted and the story will have you gripped.
A Great Thanks Giving
I had my first proper Canadian Thanks Giving this Year and managed 2 feasts in 2 days.
Sounds From The Underground
I was on the London Underground on my way to the hairdressers and over the speaker system came ‘a voice’ giving rail information. The man couldn’t speak, he ran his words into each other, spoke too quickly and for the life of me I couldn’t hear a word he said. in fact it was so bad people on the platform were laughing.
Say It With Flowers
I love having flowers in my home. Unless you are an expert arranger the best way to make a beautiful display is to keep to the same flower in the same colour.
Share a Shower!!!
Check out the Harlequins Rugby Team encourage the UK to SHARE A SHOWER!
Radish Red
Well I have managed to give myself Contact Dermatitis on my neck and chest… Why? Because I had done what I thought was the right thing for my skin and used a very high sun screen on that very delicate area.
Strictly Learning
For years I’ve secretly wanted to know how to Ballroom Dance. I’ve loved watching everyone glide around the room on Dancing With The Stars and Strictly Come Dancing. Last week after looking at the front door of Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio in Toronto I bucked up the courage and went in.
BA Stop Nightmare In New York
My brother in law Gary Webster went on a 2 night business to trip to New York – only to arrive and hit the chaos of Hurricane Irene! He had booked through the British Airways web site, purchasing the flight and hotel as a package.
Reaching For the Stars
Lynda Joyce – Astrologer & Life Coach
Most of us read our horoscopes and within seconds forget them but it doesn’t stop us having a peek.
Booted Off Facebook!
I have been in the middle of suffering the ultimate social rejection – blocked from my own Facebook page because according to Big Facebook Brother I am not who I say I am and the palaver to prove my authenticity requires DNA!!
Goodbye Amy
I have been following the tragic news of Amy Winehouse’s death. You always had a fear that this was going to be the way her life would end.
And Horse Power!
While mum and dad were visiting me I took the opportunity to take dad out for a ride in the old 1938 MG TB that he used to ride about in when he was at Birmingham University.
Balcony Moment
Now I know why there are so many girls hanging around the entrance to my condo building – Robert Pattinson is staying here while filming his new movie ‘Cosmopolis’ in Toronto.
A Champion Day Out
One of the most beautiful women to walk this earth and I certainly looked up to in the 70’s when I was the worst dressed teenager ever was Alexandra Bastedo. My God how can one woman be given so much, perfect figure, beautiful face thick hair and golden tan. She was on bill boards promoting oil, magazines couldn’t get enough of her she dazzled us in the original Casino Royale but the show that made this talented actress famous and was a firm favourite of mine and Wendy’s was ‘The Champions’.
May on the move
They say that death, divorce and moving house are the three most stressful life events – and this month I’ve been in the midst of the latter.
We’ve bought a house nearer London, just 40 minutes drive from the centre of town. It’s on a gated community, which is just a teensy bit like Wisteria Lane, so I have neighbours again for the first time in 13 years. I’d better keep the hi-fi at a reasonable level!
Tribute to Digger
Sadly we have come to the end of our time with the beautiful, funny, mischievous Golden Retriever we call Digger. He has fought the most amazing battle with Cancer but this distractive disease which affects humans and animals has won.
